December, 2020 - House and Senate passed The Julius Rosenwald and Rosenwald Schools Act of 2020
January 13, 2021 - President Trump signed The Julius Rosenwald and Rosenwald Schools Act of 2020 into law
April, 2022 - National Park Service (NPS) began a Special Resource Study (SRS) of sites associated with Julius Rosenwald and Rosenwald Schools
July 2022 - NPS held two public meetings on SRS, and received nearly 2,000 comments, including extensive Campaign comments
March - November, 2024 - Public leaders, including Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) with eight co-signing Senators, Governor JB Pritzker (D-IL), Representative Andy Harris (R-MD-1), Governor Wes Moore (D-MD), Representative Danny Davis (D-IL) with 19 co-signing representatives, as well as more than 30 organizations/individuals, sent letters to President Biden requesting that he proclaim the Julius Rosenwald & Rosenwald Schools National Monument
April 16, 2024 - Campaign participated in Monumental Call to Action press conference and met with staff from the Department of the Interior (DOI) and Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) to urge proclamation of National Monument
June 13, 2024 - DOI-issued SRS concluded that Julius Rosenwald and Rosenwald Schools are of national historic significance and that the San Domingo School meets all criteria to be national park unit
August - November, 2024 - Representatives of the Campaign, National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), National Park Trust and National Religious Partnership to Protect the Environment (NRPE) met with DOI and CEQ staff to urge proclamation of National Monument
September 19, 2024 - The Julius Rosenwald and Rosenwald Schools National Historical Park legislation introduced in Senate and House
November 13, 2024 - 13 non-profit organizations co-sponsored an event at the Capitol Visitor Center on the legacy of Rosenwald and the Schools, as well as efforts to create a national park unit
November 19, 2024 - CEQ representative informed Campaign, NPCA, and NRPE that it was too late to proclaim National Monument in the current session of Congress
December, 2024 - All pending National Parks/conservation legislation failed to pass Congress
2025 - Campaign will work to have new Congressional legislation introduced to establish the Julius Rosenwald & Rosenwald Schools National Historical Park
